WHAT IS MINIATURE ART?

Miniature art is fine art—specialized, not novelty. For centuries, it has been celebrated as a refined art form, characterized by meticulous detail, luminous color, and strong composition that can rival works on a much larger scale. Creating a miniature often requires as much time, if not more, than producing a large painting. When magnified, a true miniature retains its integrity, standing as a complete work of art in every detail.

While many artists can work on a grand scale, few possess the discipline and precision required for miniatures. This unique art form, rooted in illuminated manuscripts and book paintings of the 7th century, continues to astonish viewers with what can be achieved in such limited space. Its compact size and accessibility make original fine art attainable for both seasoned collectors and new art enthusiasts alike.

Artists may submit up to six works. The first three are included in the entry fee, each additional is $5.00.

Artwork must not have been previously exhibited in a RAA exhibition and must have been created by a living artist 18 years or older within the last three years (after August 2022).

The artwork must be original. By submitting your work, you are attesting that it is your original design and created by you and that there are no copyright infringements.
