Discover one of watercolor's most expressive techniques—negative painting. Instead of painting the subject, you'll paint the shapes around it, allowing it to emerge from transparent layers of color. The result is greater depth, stronger composition, and luminous, dimensional paintings.

In this four-week class, you'll complete two watercolor paintings (time permitting) while learning to:

•Build depth with transparent layered washes

•Create stronger shapes and compositions

•Paint flowers, leaves, and other natural subjects using negative spaces

•Preserve light while adding rich color and dimension
