Watercolor Painting: Building Your Skills

Four Morning Sessions | Beginner & Intermediate Painters

Whether you're new to watercolor painting or looking to improve your skills, this four-session workshop is designed for you!

Join instructor Ron Malone for a friendly, hands-on learning experience focused on developing essential watercolor techniques, improving your skills, and building confidence in your painting.

Preparing for Your First Class

During our first session, we'll begin preparing a painting using a reference photo you select. Please review the following guidelines and bring your selected photo to the first class.

What You'll Learn

Throughout the four sessions, we'll practice:

  • Transferring Reference Images: Accurately transfer photographs or drawings onto watercolor paper.

  • Creating Smooth, Clean Washes: Learn techniques for applying even, controlled watercolor washes.

  • Mixing Beautiful Colors: Create a wide range of colors using a basic Winsor & Newton watercolor palette.

  • Understanding Values: Use light, medium, and dark values to create depth and dimension.

Putting Your Skills into Practice

We'll apply these techniques to two painting projects:

  • Still Life Painting: Explore shapes, colors, lighting, and values.

  • Landscape Painting: Create depth, atmosphere, and natural-looking scenery.

Personalized Instruction – Limited Class Size

Each class begins with a brief lesson and demonstration of watercolor techniques.

Students will then work on their individual paintings while Ron moves from student to student, providing personalized, one-on-one instruction based on each painter's experience, progress, and needs.

Class size is limited to ensure everyone receives individual attention and guidance.
