Kim Kirchman, of St. Petersburg served as judge for this exhibition | Kim Kirchman is a renowned ceramic artist and has taught at St. Petersburg College since 1993 as an Associate Professor of Arts and lead instructor for the ceramics, sculpture and three-dimensional design curriculum. As a fourth generation native Floridian, the natural beauty of our state and the dense lush environment influences the form and surface of her work. Kirchman earned a BFA and MFA in Ceramics at the University of South Florida. Starting out as a painter, she evolved into a sculptor who discovered clay as a medium. Her interest in functional forms developed from the structure of domestic life, such as sharing meals that make deep connections with family and friends, which serves as the conceptual inspiration for her hand-built ceramic works. |
